When testicles don’t descend: Homeopathy to the rescue!

Cryptorchidism - commonly known as an undescended testicle - is a condition that often worries parents and pet owners alike. But with the right tools, the body has a remarkable capacity to self-correct. I’ve seen this condition resolve in both children and animals beautifully with Homeopathy.

What is Cryptorchidism?

Cryptorchidism occurs when one or both testicles fail to descend into the scrotum. In boys, it affects around 3–4% of full-term newborns and up to 30% of premature infants. If untreated, it can increase the risk of fertility issues or testicular problems later in life.

In male dogs, cryptorchidism is less common but still occurs, often presenting as a missing testicle in the scrotum and sometimes accompanied by a small inguinal swelling.

Conventional Treatment

In conventional medicine, the treatment for when testicles don't descend is surgery - orchidopexy. This is usually recommended to move the testicle into the scrotum, ideally before one year of age in children. In male dogs, surgery or neutering is the typical route to prevent complications.

While surgery is effective, many parents and pet owners prefer to try other methods first, especially if the case is mild or surgery can be safely delayed.

How Homeopathy Works

Homeopathy works by addressing the constitutional imbalance that may underlie cryptorchidism. • Calcarea carbonica – for solid, steady children or animals prone to slow development, night sweating, and frequent colds.

• Pulsatilla – for gentle, sensitive natures, emotionally responsive, better in open air.

• Silica – for delicate constitutions, slow healing, or weakness in connective tissues.

• Conium – particularly when cryptorchidism follows trauma or hormonal imbalance.

• Lycopodium – often helpful in children who are easily discouraged or have a tendency toward low self-confidence.

• Aurum metallicum – for sensitive, melancholic, or perfectionist children or animals, often with delayed growth or developmental issues; especially useful when there is deep emotional stress, low self-confidence, or discouragement.
